The Substance Index
To make it easier for our users to keep track of substances used within the company, we have prepared a separate Substance Index in FAMAC.
In addition to standard information such as article number, name, manufacturer and supplier, three different document types can be uploaded:
- Safety Data Sheet
- Product Data Sheet
- User Instructions
You do not need to be a registered user of FAMAC to look up the Substance Index. Users with access needs will receive a link from the system, and can then do a Substance Index lookup.
This means that you can easily post the link on your own website if desired.
The Substance Index has some useful special functions:
Recommended Alternative - provides the opportunity to inform about other substances that can be used as a replacement
Special Waste - reminds the user that the substance must actually be treated as such
If the employer wishes to limit or phase out the use of certain substances, the Substance Index can be used to tell users that these substances should not be used any more. The Substance Index can also be used to register findings of substances you want out of use.
Users can report missing entries in the Substance Index
Record adverse events related to the use of a substance
Easy registration of the period the various substances have been in use on the individual buildings
Like in other parts of FAMAC, access to the substance register is governed by the roles and rights assigned to the individual user.
