We are very certain: Digital twin is an ingenious concept that we are in the process of integrating into. We are working on a large-scale development with support from SkatteFUNN and the Research Council of Norway.
There are several providers of digital twins. FDVhuset has for a long time collaborated with the German company NavVis and the Norwegian representative for this system, Geograf Digital AS.
A digital twin is an exact scan of the building, which gives a 3D model "as is". You can easily walk around the building and see all the details and components and objects.
These will be fully integrated with FAMAC, and thus the model will be constantly evolving and interactive. The scan also provides an "as is" floor plan of the building, which can be reused in FAMAC's modules, such as Cleaning, Rental and so on.
In the case of new buildings, it will be a great benefit to scan the building before laying on the surfaces, so that you subsequently have a full overview of what is in the walls, ceiling and floor.
If you are inside the model and want to know what is inside the construction, you turn off the surfaces and can thus look straight into the built-in technical installations and know exactly where these are located. There is also a measuring function in the model, where you can easily measure out the location of the installations.
We will publish more about this as the development progresses.
A digital twin is often defined as a digital or virtual copy of a physical thing that exists in the real world. Let's say we make a digital model of an office building with all the rooms, doors and windows. All data about the building is inside this model, and is easily accessible to those who need access. To keep the twin alive and make it "smart", we depend on installing sensors in the building. The sensors can, for example, pick up fluctuations in temperature and air quality in each room.
It also counts the number of people located in the building and notify when something happens to the mains and the piping system. Thus, we have a living digital twin.
